At Cúirt, we were saddened to learn of the death of Fred Johnston, who died unexpectedly last week. Fred was a founder of Cúirt in its original form as a poetry festival and responsible for guiding its early success.

[Cúirt Festival @CuirtFestival]

Fred's contributions to Irish writing in poetry and prose over many decades will be fondly remembered, as will his indefatigable commitment to social justice. We send our condolences to Fred's family, friends and wider literary circle.
