Going through a breakup in 2026 and having any kind of social media is basically having 47 unpaid therapists screaming conflicting instructions directly into your nervous system. “Go no contact.” “Unless you need closure.” “Tell him how you feel.” “If he wanted to, he would.” “Avoidants DO want to, they’re just terrified.” “That’s limerence.” “No, that’s grief.” “Detach.” “Feel your feelings.” “Block him.” “Don’t block him, that’s reactive.” “Don’t chase.” “Be vulnerable.” “Choose yourself.”
I actually disagree. Traveling and vacationing are fun distractions and can reveal how you two handle friction or unfamiliar situations, but there’s an escape hatch built in. New scenery, an itinerary, an end date. It’s easier to feel connected when everything around you is stimulating.
The real test is the opposite. Can you keep the adventure, fun, and peace alive when there’s no escape? Regular Tuesdays. The same four walls.
