There was high energy at the @Raptors905 vs @greensboroswarm game downtown on Monday. I have never seen so many children or school busses in one space. Thankful for the venue’s patience in handling such a large crowd of children in one space. @ScotiabankArena
Grateful for Dani Harris from @UIEC_Tdsb to guide educators from the TLC and the @tdsb’s Combatting Hate and Racism strategy through the centre’s amazing publication, OK KO OK. An incredible resource to spark classroom discussions & making connections to truth & reconciliation.
In the midst of working to disrupt systemic oppression in education and provide learning opportunities where every student is seen, it is important to cherish the in-between moments of joy and togetherness.
We lean into this cause with our hearts and with each other.
6s have been redesigning the coat of arms - many have taken note of the motto “A mari usque ad mare” on the current version meaning “from sea to sea”. This student rightfully changed it to “from sea to sea to sea”. They worked so hard on their 3D printed redesign!
My students had so much fun coding today during math/science using Python language for this fun collab between the @esa and @Raspberry_Pi . I would HIGHLY recommend #MissionZero for students in junior grades. My students' messages will reach astronauts on the ISS!
Room 207 now has some student-directed “tv shows” where the students showcase and share their passions and/or interests with the class! You can find the schedule in your local TV guide (those still exist, right?)
For today’s #MathTalk students were exploring the relationship between multiplication & division - how does knowing 15 x 3 help us solve 150 x 3? 15 x 30? 4500/30?
The past few days we’ve been exploring different types of adaptations that allow organisms to survive & reproduce in their environnements. As an activity on camouflage, Ss each got a butterfly to camouflage in the classroom. Here are some of their examples! #grade6#biodiversity
Students have asked me why don't their heads get bigger or explode when they learn new things... Now I can answer: Competitive Brain Space. The brain keeps pathways that you are using. Then when you don’t use the pathways, they fade away. @joboaler#datascience4all
What if we started EVERY class in every grade with the question, "What are you CURIOUS about?" Where would that lead our learners? Thanks @joboaler for the inspiration! #datascience4all
Enrolled a little bit late for @joboaler s course 21st Century Teaching and Learning but I just got started & am glad I did. Now time to spend some of my Friday evening struggling to draw & cut out shapes. #datascience4all
17 Valentine’s Day letters to send to 17 different schools across Canada. Second year doing #LeGrandÉchangeDeValentins with my students. Thanks @mlle_resnick for introducing me to this last year!
Sending a ginormous thank you to @THS_tweet. @JeanLumbPS_TDSB students were so grateful to share what they are currently reading with the beautiful and compassionate animals at the 11 River St location. I think we’ve found more than just reading buddies! 🐶🐱🐹🐭🐰🐢📚🧡
