Good news!

ANVISA has approved Lenacapavir (Sunlenca), a long-acting injectable medication for HIV prevention. It is administered every six months and has shown up to 100% efficacy in clinical studies.

The approval covers adults and adolescents weighing more than 35 kg who are at risk of HIV infection. While Lenacapavir is not yet available in certain countries, including Malaysia, this represents a major breakthrough for PrEP and HIV prevention overall.

📍Health education is also important to improve health literacies and to protect close contacts such as wives and children who are at risk of contracting HIV.

📍 As a health NGO, SAHABAT is an important strategic partner to JKN Kelantan, in implementing health education programmes and outreach activities targeting high-risk populations, including intravenous drug users and men who have sex with men (MSM). This effort focuses on increasing awareness regarding HIV infection, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), & Hepatitis C.

📍MOH remains committed to a public health approach that prioritises disease prevention, early intervention, and access to treatment for all, in line with the country's health policy according to religious values & cultural sensitivity.
