Fifty-five years ago, a monster motarcade on State Street ushered in the Midwest premiere of The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) at the Chicago Theatre. The ballyhoo didn't hurt, and the Vincent Price film quickly became a hit, staying in The Loop for over a month. #chicago#1970s
In December 1960, Jerry Lewis was on a publicity blitz in Chicago to promote the world premiere of Cinderfella at the Woods Theatre, which included being signed by the White Sox as a scout and raising money for muscular dystrophy. Some great shots of old Comiskey and The Loop!
Trey Mancini’s ride has been amazing!
Diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020, Mancini not only made it back, but he helped Houston win the 2022 World Series.
Mancini did not play in the Majors at all in 2024 or 2025.
Last week, he got 3 hits in his first MLB game in nearly three years 👏

one of the great voices in sports: Mr. Gene Honda. Was an honor to meet him this weekend, and thank him—not only for his decades of incredible work calling games, but also for helping push the game(s) forward for other Japanese/Asian Americans in broadcast 🙏
