#Newsquest newsrooms have been torn to pieces by cost-cutting, those at the top are living in luxury while front-line #journalists often live with parents or rely on a partner's income to afford to remain in their job https://t.co/9sr8Sqszod @CutsQuest#Gannett#media@IFJGlobal
Population of St Ives 11,200. They get 10 Berliner sized pages jam-packed with well written local news - a really good read for £1.20. Population of Kingston 174,600. We get 44 tabloid pages of not very much at all, except adverts. Expensive at 65p. @CutsQuest
When people ask why I left... @CutsQuest “Newsquest does not value its journalists in Cumbria. Any journalist who joins this company should expect a future of continuous pay erosion. Our journalists have taken on more responsibility for diminishing reward” https://t.co/DDonBXqxcU
That’s me done!I’m now officially unemployed after being made redundant by the wonderful NWN Media/Newsquest!
Looking forward to exciting times ahead with a new role in aviation as well as the @W_M_A awards night in @MercureCardifHH on 23rd March :)

@PeaKayEff Not odd at all. The decline of local journalism sadly. @WimbledonNews a mouthpiece for @Merton_Council most of them time. Even more important that #Merton#vocallocals keep residents informed on so many issues and encourage others to do so, particularly after May #localelections
@Metro_Joey@MetroUK Reporters at Newsquest South London went on strike for two weeks over job cuts and desire to be paid the London Loving Wage. A few months back they tried to take that away.
