Beginning the week of June 8, we will be completing line painting on the trails at Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and visitors can expect rolling trail closures. All affected areas will be fully closed to the public during the week, re-opening Fridays at 5 p.m. and on weekends. We anticipate the project will occur in three phases and take three weeks to complete. We thank you for your patience as we continue to finalize trail work at this newly opened park.
Please check our Park Advisories daily for updates on which sections of trails are affected by the work: https://t.co/5QsJq6v8We
Happy June 💚 and happy fawn season! 🦌
Young white-tailed deer are beginning to build their confidence as they explore meadows, forests and natural areas alongside their mothers. While these spotted fawns may seem small and vulnerable, they are often exactly where they’re supposed to be.
Mother deer frequently leave their fawns alone for short periods while they forage nearby, returning regularly to feed and care for them. If you come across a fawn, admire it from a distance and give it plenty of space so it can continue growing, learning and exploring the natural world.

Last weekend, community members from #Mississauga and #Caledon braved the wet weather to support local stewardship efforts. Together, volunteers removed an impressive 210 lbs of invasive garlic mustard from Richard Jones Park and planted 150 native trees and shrubs along Caledon Creek. 🌲💚
Stewardship work isn’t always easy, but it’s always rewarding and always fun... even in the rain! 🌧️ Thanks to our kind supporters Rotary Club of Mississauga, @UPS and @EternalVirtue. See what #volunteer events are happening in your community: https://t.co/JfM31wvza6
Serson Creek historically flowed to Lake Ontario before the lower section of the creek was diverted underground through a pipe system in the mid-1960s to accommodate shoreline development. As part of the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area project, partners worked to bring a buried section of the creek back to the surface and restore fish passage and ecological functions along this portion of the waterfront. The project also included extensive native habitat restoration and planting to support pollinators, birds and other wildlife species throughout the site.
More than a decade in the making, the new 26-hectare Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area has transformed the Mississauga shoreline. This includes bringing a section of Serson Creek back to life. Buried and piped underground in the 1960s, we reconnected the creek back to Lake Ontario supporting fish spawning and nursery habitat.
You can see it for yourself this Saturday, May 30 at the grand opening: https://t.co/Mb8J1s4NJW
