So far for 2026, the front chainring shifter broke, my chain had snapped and bent my rear derailleur and hanger, and the rear freewheel is skipping. Despite all this, I've just gone over 1,000 km of riding on my #bike this year.

I'm now at #Jakarta Airport (#CGK) and ready for the next leg of my flight .... CGK to #HKG (Hong Kong). The flight from #Bali to here was delayed an hour, so I didn't get much time to fart around, as I also had to change terminals and clear immigration.

Due to the lack of air conditioning in the dorm at the last hostel, I moved to a different #hostel in #Kuta . The hostel I moved to has air conditioning, a pool, and dinner is included! The downside is that it is 2 km from the #beach.

Today, I leave #Ketapang and travel to #Kuta, #Bali. First, there's a 1.25 hour #ferry ride, then a 4.5 hour intercity #bus ride, and then a city bus to get to my accommodations. I managed to make it all work.

Today was a "do little" day as my legs were still a bit sore from the Ijen Volcano hike the previous day. I'm hanging out here at the #Ketapang Indah Hotel, taking in the views. #Bali is across the water from here.

Starting at 2 AM, we hiked up Kawah #Ijen #Volcano and descended into the crater to see the phenomena called the "blue light", caused by sulfuric gases igniting upon contact with oxygen at high temperatures, producing blue flames.

Today I visited the #Surabaya #Zoo. Here I am with a couple of #giraffes. There is an interesting collection of animals here, including #Komodo #dragons and #lions and #tigers and #elephants and #monkeys.

I'm at the Museum Sepuluh Nopember (Tenth November Museum) in #Surabaya. The #museum documents the battle of the 10th of November 1945 in Surabaya, where Indonesia fought British troops. Next to the Museum is Tugu Pahlawan (Hero Monument).
