It’s very hard mapping a mathematical phenomenon to a name. LLMs have been a godsend. I describe a structure and ask what it’s called, and they’re frequently right. In the old days, I would invent something, work on it for a while and find some neat properties, and after weeks discover that it was invented decades ago and is called a “Szaczmeier co-ringoid”, but that Conway invented it independently and called it a “purple cake”.
