Just finished reading @CyberdiplomacyB from @shaun_riordan , an insightful and clever book which should be a must read for any 21st century diplomat and which defends that the diplomats role remains as essential to cyberspace as it does to physical space.

As the book @CyberdiplomacyB points out one characteristic trait of diplomats is the socialization among themselves wich enables a productive bonding which can be very fruitful for their purposes in the international community.

@patricioviolini @shaun_riordan @CyberdiplomacyB Interesting thought with which I can only partially agree, as I believe that a good diplomat has to have always the interest of his country and fellow nationals in mind, even though he might sympathize with the point of view of other diplomatic colleagues.

The point I tried to make in @CyberdiplomacyB (among others) is that it is his participation in the community of diplomats that allows him to do this

@JanLemnitzer But the same problems arise - modern technologies overload decision-makers with information they are unable to manage. The upward transfer of foreign policy has not noticeably improved policy making!

The #geography & #geopolitics of the #internet is changing

Social media as defined in general public (and often academic) consciousness is not the same as the grouping impacted by attempts to legislate that smaller target group.

The US is attractive for tech startups due to limited regulation and funding.

China actively supports the creation of competing platforms for geopolitical clout.
