Thirdly, Hejaaz Hizbullah is an Attorney and minority rights advocate. In 2020 he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department and was declared a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International. Since his release in 2022 he has been a critic of Sri Lankan terrorism laws.
Our next speaker, Bhavani Fonseka is a Senior Researcher and Attorney with the Centre for Policy Alternatives. Her work has revolved around assisting victims and affected populations across Sri Lanka, legal and policy reforms and public interest litigation (PIL). #humanrights
Our first speaker Thyagi Ruwanpathirana is South Asia and Sri Lanka Researcher at Amnesty International. Thyagi holds a LLB from University of Warwick and a Human Rights LLM from University of London. She was National Legal Advisor for the International Commission of Jurists.
