@eager2knowgrow@E4Capt_PartDeux That one guy in the article and the lady on the internet said it was good, so I’ll just switch without any real data or hands on testing. Just because you believe something is great, doesn’t mean everyone else should follow. You wear your space helmet and I’ll wear my leather.
@eager2knowgrow@E4Capt_PartDeux You’ve yet to give me solid reasons why this helmet is safer. Until you can do that, I’m going to continue giving stupid responses because I figure that’s all you can understand. Small fires, big fires, what’s the difference?
@eager2knowgrow@E4Capt_PartDeux “The department found ideas from the United Kingdom”
Please see the picture I posted this morning for my feelings on that.
Today I had to write up the first officer I ever worked for, who I rode with on my very first shift, who I’ve always looked up to. He was very cordial and understanding and we finished by laughing and talking about the old days. Never would I have thought this would ever happen.
@HokkanenPanu Perhaps there’s a reason why so many of us prefer the traditional helmet. If lack of protection was an issue, the design would have been changed 100 years ago. There are a lot of things about Europe that make sense to Europe. Which is why in 1776 we were no longer Europe.
Since the fire service is trying to push these spaceball helmets on us, I say we push back and demand long coats and 3/4 boots. I mean if we’re going to let hot water and tar roll down our necks again, we might as well go full salty.
How many firefighters does NFPA require to change a lightbulb? 1 to change it, 1 to heel the ladder, 2 on a standby hoseline, 1 manning the pump, 1 in command, a safety officer, and 3 more on RIT. All must wear safety glasses and helmet with face shield down.
Who would you expect to walk through your door when you call 911 for your mother or child? To someone else’s family, you are that person. Are you living up to your own standard? If not then get better. If you don’t want to get better, find another profession.
@GPM018 Currently MSA and Rosenbauer make them but you are correct, no major city had gone to these. But they have been popping up in smaller departments and are slowly gathering a fan base.
@jakesrw1 A somewhat nearby department just switched to them. Not going to happen in mine though. I’ll spend the money and switch to leather before buying those ridiculous things.
