For years on end I avoided games that had me play a male character as it felt weird to identify with that. If a girl character wasn't available I would avoid the game even if the story was great.

And I know for a fact, cis women played male characters but you hardly got a complaint from them about that.

@AprilsBooks I come from a family where one side of it has a near-240 year history of being in the US military and I endorse this sentiment whole-heartedly.

We haven't had a reason to invade another country since WW2 (which started in 1936), and that's the only time we ever had a reason.
