Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
Beware of anxiety. Next to sin, there is nothing that so troubles the mind, strains the heart, distresses the soul, and confuses the judgment.
— WILLIAM ULLATHORNE
“God’s compassion is too great to relieve your circumstances while leaving your heart in the same condition as before. He is too merciful to solve your problems without imparting His character to you. Let your waiting accomplish His work. Then you will see His compassion.”
"What is your only comfort in life and in death?
That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death— to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ."
Since God is sovereign, why should we still pray?
1. Prayer is commanded by God.
(1 Thess 5:17)
2. Prayer aligns us with God's will.
(Matt 6:10)
3. Prayer strengthens our faith.
(Matt 21:22)
4. Prayer draws us closer to God.
(James 4:8)
5. Prayer is the means through which God works.
(James 5:16)
Prayer serves as a channel for God's sovereign work in the world.
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
to defend all that is holy;
Praise God the Father who’s the source;
Praise God the Son who is the course;
Praise God the Spirit who’s the flow;
Praise God, our portion here below!
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
Do I have any regrets?
I regret nothing that I have given Him(God).
I regret only that which I have kept for myself.
Dear God, have mercy on me! Help my unbelief. Give me faith to love you and seek you. In Christ name I pray. Amen.
“Biblical literacy is not to be confused with Christian maturity. Homiletic accuracy is not the same as godliness. Theological dexterity is very different from practical holiness. Successful leadership is not the same as a heart for Christ. . .
"The Gospel is the only foundation upon which we can build the disciplines necessary to pursue holiness. Grace and discipline cannot be separated."
-Jerry Bridges
So when Paul urged us to be "transformed by the renewing of your mind," he was essentially saying, "Bring yourself under the transforming influence of the Word of God." It is by the means that we begin to develop Bible-based convictions.
"A belief is what you hold, but a conviction is what holds you. You may live contrary to what you believe,but you cannot live contrary to your convictions.(This doesn't mean you never act contrary to your convictions, but that you do not consistently violate them)"
