Friday shoutout time! This week’s congratulations go to Jan Lenc, our former student, now thriving as a PhD at University of Florida. His manuscript has been accepted in Insect Conservation and Diversity! Work is about ants during day and night in tropical forest. Keep tuned.
Deadline will be in May 2026. In case you would be interested to join my lab with a project focusing on insectivorous birds, I will be happy to support your application and assist.

Our new Nature Communications paper shows that caterpillars are NOT safer in temperate regions as believed, if we consider also predation in forest canopies. https://t.co/ksCqhog5xs https://t.co/OFbXWHOnVW
Friday (soon to be) lab news — we are thrilled!
Huge congrats to Jakub Pawlik for securing funding for his new project in the Belledonne mountain range, exploring how elevation and warming shape spider communities.

We are back from the conference. It is Friday ... and our new paper just went online! 🎉 The results of the work indicate substantial sub-canopy warming in Southeast Asia, posing potential risks for tropical biodiversity. The work is now out in Geophysical Research Letters.
For most lab members, it doubled as an advanced course in working under pressure — calmly navigating the chaos that come with preparing an event. As for me, in my attempt to escape the week, I learned a valuable lesson about not flying too high ...
This week’s lab highlight looks back at the Zoological Days. For our attending students, it was a great opportunity to share ideas, reconnect with colleagues, and celebrate zoology. 🎓Contratulations to Jakub Pawlik for his award for a great poster. 🏆 https://t.co/7ACfk0sMiu

Kč (dohromady u TA ČR, GA ČR, AV ČR a AZV/MZ) a 1 mld.
Few year ago, I drew this on the first page of a new notebook, then 2 years later I swapped the letter to BABE and got the BABE ERC project. New book, new picture ... similarly stupid one
