The Department of Education has agreed to my and EducateD8's request for a new Gaelcholáiste in Dublin 8. We still need a new Gaelcholáiste for Dublin 10 and 12. Dublin 8 also needs a new non/multi-denominational secondary school. I again raised this with the Taoiseach this week.
Educate D8 look forward to meeting @NormaFoleyTD1 next month to reiterate our urgent call for an inclusive secondary school for kids in Dublin 8. Please sign and share our petition to show support for the campaign. https://t.co/aTSrh2xyPC
Educate D8 is delighted to see more choice for children of D8 but lack of places and lack of a multi-denominational option remain the 2 biggest issues facing families with kids approaching secondary school in D8.
For years, secondary education in D8 has been underinvested in. Half all kids need to leave the area to go to secondary school. Please sign and share our petition to demand @NormaFoleyTD1 meets us and grants us a much needed inclusive secondary school.

Provision of education is a key priority for me; special ed, new school for D8, supports for existing schools and a Gaelcolaiste.
Today it was announced that Harold's Cross Educate together will get its promised new primary and secondary school. This is welcome, more is needed!
💯. Thanks Patrick. Today’s announcement shows new buildings are possible, so @NormaFoleyTD1 please don’t leave behind the areas (such as D8) in most need of a new school (according to your own data).
Dublin 8 still needs a new school. This announcement is welcome for my constituents in D6W but those in Dublin 8 should not to be fed scraps from other areas.

@IrishTimes is once again highlighting the lack of secondary school places for children across the country. In D8 we do not even have enough schools or places to cater for half the children who live here. We need another school urgently to cater for the needs of the community.
@lesleybyrne @sarahburke03 @JaneToolan@NormaFoleyTD1@ClogherRoadCC@ClogherRoadCC is an excellent school and a great option for many in D8, but for a lot of families in our group, it’s a long commute of 2+ buses or a long / cycle walk along dangerous roads and crossings.
Thanks @sarahburke03 for highlighting how D8 kids are overlooked when it comes to secondary school places. Well done @JaneToolan for speaking out. @NormaFoleyTD1 please address our legitimate concerns.
@NormaFoleyTD1 can you please point out the significant capacity in local D8 multi-denominational schools, as those of us who live here can’t find any that are accessible and offer the choice our kids deserve?! #educateD8@Independent_ie
@MattX220@Independent_ie That’s not in fact the case. Catholic kids are being prioritised despite 62% of the population not being Catholic. Everywhere else kids have choice, ours don’t!
@Q102FeelGood highlight the ongoing lack of school places for children living in Dublin 8, which has been exacerbated in recent years. @NormaFoleyTD1#educated8 https://t.co/PAUcHX2xJD
At less than 12%, children living in Kilmainham B have among the lowest rates of active transport to/ from school in the city, thanks to the lack of inclusive school places nearby. @NormaFoleyTD1#educated8
Great piece by Dr JoAnne Mancini from @MaynoothUni highlighting how kids in Kilmainham B have the longest commutes to school in Dublin due to the lack of inclusive schools in the area. @NormaFoleyTD1 https://t.co/AWwrbAhOTj
