Dear Nigerians,
Let's be more tolerant to people's democratic choices!
On this app and various social media platforms, I've observed lots of unhealthy verbal gymnastics whenever popular supporters of presidential candidates make a switch.

I've followed PO leadership style since he was Anambra Governor and he earned my trust. I voted him in 2023 and will vote him again in 2027. There are some political issues I wished he handled differently but I must acknowledge that there's nothing he does that would please everyone. I stand firmly with him because he has demonstrated the courage, credibility and capacity required to right many wrongs and redirect Nigeria towards a path of progress and sustainable development.

At the same time, I recognise that people's political choices are determined by various factors; could be based on personal experiences, identity considerations or economic interests. Everyone is entitled to make choices that sit well with them, rightly or wrongly. That's democracy for you.

I have friends across the political divides and it doesn't affect our relationship. A few that misbehaved, I treated them accordingly. I've seen some popular supporters of PO withdraw their support. I may not agree with their reasons but I respect their democratic right to do so. No matter how anyone sees it, it's a minus, but we are also gaining others. Every voter counts, especially those who stood with us in the past. Their current affiliation should not erase or diminish their previous sacrifices and contributions.

It is absolutely unacceptable to bully anyone because of who they support. However, those who switch political allegiance should demonstrate emotional intelligence while promoting their new candidates or defending their decision. Casting aspersions on a candidate you once promoted, an idea you once defended or a group you were a part of, would definitely attract an equal and opposite response.

There's extreme hunger & poverty in the land and many people are easily triggered to react with explosive anger. Let's keep our social and political environment healthy, and treat one another with mutual respect.
As for the real PO supporters, let's keep our eyes on the ball. Refuse to be distracted. Focus on your polling units, convince and win more people to our side. Organise, Protect and Follow the votes on the election day. Definitely, Nigeria will soon be OK! ✌️.
