So God punished all humanity ( and all snakes, irrational, amoral animals ) for the actions of two humans and one talking snake. These two humans lacking the knowledge of good and evil prior to consuming the fruit, thus rendering their culpability highly questionable. The snake, on the other hand, was just telling the truth; They would not die as God had said they would, and they would be like God(kind) after consuming the fruit in knowing good and evil, which God acknowledges. It was also God who allowed this serpent to exist in the first place and "deceive" Adam and Eve, so he did set everyone up for failure by his own metrics in that regard.
@harvest_ready@AtheistTakes You can think a fictional character is evil in-universe and still be able to distinguish fiction from reality. It's not a difficuly concept.
@p01y2@childofgod2026@ChurchofSatan@grok I've seen a weird uptick in people holding Gnostic beliefs but calling themselves something like "non-orthodox Christian" - or otherwise refusing to name their beliefs even when an established name exists - recently. I suppose "weird Christian" is more marketable.
@childofgod2026@ChurchofSatan@p01y2@grok You are denying that you are anything, and thus positing the inverse that you are nothing. Quaint. I shall respond accordingly from here on out.
"...Legalized abortion would have a disastrously demoralizing affect on our society, for it would further instill the notion that human life is one of the cheapest commodities in the world. ...How can we even consider the senseless annihilation of our unborn children, when it is due to the stupidity and negligence of their parents that they were created."
- Anton Szandor LaVey, Letters from the Devil
@Mirrorswordsman I remember the video wherein he spent an hour explaining the religious history of Japan to say that the reason gods are fought in JRPGs is because it's an allegory for capitalism.
@liquid2ulu It's reminds me of how I've never heard Protestants promote the "Protestant Work Ethic." I've only ever heard Catholics and leftists complain about it as a means to blame their problems on people they don't like. "Trickle-down economics" feels much the same for general leftism.
@Heroson2341@goldgalt@liquid2ulu By Kant, yes. Kant was wrong, though. Virtue Ethics is way too broad to apply altruism to all of it; it's an ethical means, not an ethical ends.
@LaissezCorvid Unfortunately, many gamers have become incredibly hive-minded and prone to knee-jerk herd reactions over actual thought in recent years.
@snakesofliberty Alis has tangentially influenced myself, as well. While I was not involved during that infighting fiasco a while back, it did help to reinforce an aversion to a herd mentality and "follow the leader" antics.
