I think that for me, buying this (which I have) is about having a beautifully crafted replica of my favourite Amiga and have the ability to relive the experience.

Sure, I could emulate anything for pennies, but this is about the experience.

Here’s every current Commodore Amiga 1200 listings visible on eBay UK right now:

High-end / fully expanded
1. CSA1250 + 16 MB + 2 GB HD: £1,322 + £477 US shipping ≈ £1,800

2. TF1260 68060 Rev 6 + 128 MB + 64 GB boxed: £1,121 + £391 US ≈ £1,512

3. ACA1234 68030 + 128 MB + SSD/CF + Gotek + Indivision (Belgium): £943 + £34 ≈ £977

Nice boxed / warranty seal / HD systems
1. Race ‘n’ Chase boxed (powers on, seal intact): £800 + £167 ≈ £967

That’s the actual market today. Decent working or boxed A1200 originals are regularly £800–£1,000+ delivered. Properly upgraded ones are £950–£1,800.

Full-size A1200 case, working keyboard, mouse + gamepad, HDMI, USB sideloading, Workbench 3.1, WHDLoad, 25 licensed games (Turrican trilogy, Settlers II, Beneath a Steel Sky, etc.)...and you can load your favourites from USB.

No capacitor issues, no yellowing, no extra converters needed.

Even against the cheapest complete system currently listed (£605), it’s still less than 1/3rd the price.

Against the typical “nice” boxed ones people actually buy (£800–£950) it’s 1/5th. Against the accelerator monsters it’s 1/8th to 1/10th.

If you want original 1990s Amiga 1200 and the collector experience, buy an OG, if you can afford it. I have one, it is a beautiful machine, but...

If you just want to play Amiga games on a full-size machine with a real keyboard in 2026 without the hassle or cost, THEA1200 is extremely good value.

@commodoreofcl I have looked at splitting the roles of my devices. Callback for comms, tablet for the rest of the functions I would otherwise have with an android when I 'want' the distractions and my PC (maybe a future Commodore/Amiga?) for the beefier work and games.
