July was a busy month at DAACS! We hosted an excellent group of scholars and friends for a month-long DAACS Summer Institute at Monticello. DAACS staff conducted training for field record digitization and material culture analysis.

We covered everything from small finds, beads, and buckles to bottle glass, tobacco pipes, and ceramics. Thanks to Dr. Lindsay Bloch, we spent a large portion of the month studying and typing coarse earthenwares at each visiting scholar’s site! So many cool sherds!
