Briefly about today's Ivanishvili's party's representative's statement:
Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Georgian Technical University (GTU) are two the oldest and historical universities of Georgia, which have their own different cultures and traditions. For example, TSU was established on the ideas of the founding fathers of the Georgian nation. And TSU was established by these founding fathers.
Both of these universities became symbols of freedom, national sovereignty, and the rich educational culture of Georgia. But most importantly for the present regime in Georgia, TSU was always the university where protests and free opinions were emerging. Students are studying politics, history, and other courses here, make them used to having independent and creative opinions about everything that is going on in the country. That is, whenever the regime was commiting crime, students from these two universities gathered and protested.
However, during the last years, the regime brought GTU under control, but couldn't do this to TSU. Therefore, they decided to merge these two universities - already controlled GTU and free TSU. With this move, they suppose to:
1. Kill protest in TSU. Not ongoing, but every protest that might emerge in the future;
2. With appointing new rector to the new merged university, the ministry will finally control TSU, killing every different opinion there. That is, saying anything against the government might become punished;
3. Fire all the lecturers who were teaching the students about freedom and European values. Therefore, the education process will be greatly politicized and controlled;
4. After firing lecturers and bringing pro-governmental lecturers in the University, they will achieve a low quality of education in Georgia. That is very important for them, as it is easier to control an uneducated person than educated one;
5. They are trying to delete and take the identities of these two historical universities, as well as their culture and tradition;
6. They will sell the universities' historical buildings, so that officials can take money and live with wealthier lifestyles.
Even the bloody USSR has not done this to our historical universities!
This is one of the most anti-Georgian regimes that Georgia has ever had!
It has been more than a month since children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their parents first started pleading with the government to provide them with life-saving medication.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the lack of a protein called dystrophin. It typically begins in early childhood and gradually leads to difficulties with walking and movement, eventually affecting heart and respiratory functions.
Although an effective medicine exists and is approved by numerous countries and international organizations, and is readily provided to children across the developed world, the government still refuses to fund it to save these children's lives. A total of 50 million GEL (approximately €16 million) is needed. Furthermore, these children urgently require essential equipment such as wheelchairs and ventilators, which the state also fails to provide.
Since the government remains indifferent, students from Ilia State University have taken matters into their own hands to raise the necessary funds. They have been live on Facebook for 48 hours now, marathon-streaming to raise money for the children’s needs.
You can watch and support the Facebook Live on this page: https://t.co/e6DHiu8B88
So far, 500,000 GEL (approximately €162,000) has been raised. Every single euro counts and will go directly toward providing these children with the vital support the state denies them.

Right now, we, the students, are attending a public lecture by Levan Ghambashidze about Citizen and the State.
Meanwhile, we were listening to the lecturer and were trying to gain civic knowledge, Government-TV-channel journalist, Natia Beridze, came with a cameraman, to be sure that the lecturer was not teaching us something anti-governmental 💀
We think that she is trying to catch some philosophy from John Locke. Then she might tell her audition, that knowledge about philosophy and civic engagement is a crime.
Who knows...
Protestants are gathering in front of the Georgian Technical University after the statement of Ivanishvili's party that they are going to merge Tbilisi State University and Georgian Technical University.
This decision aims to take the identities of historical universities, and lowers the quality of education in Georgia.
By the way, students have scheduled a rally in front of TSU (Tbilisi State University) in an hour.
On the banners: "Stop taking our identity away", "104-year-old university is not for sale!"

This merger is more likely to be a takeover to purge the remnants of resistance at the Tbilisi State University. And the quality of education will drop significantly.
This is Tbilisi State University (TSU), a historical and the first established university in Georgia, which was always the main place where protests against the unfair political system were emerging.
Georgian Technical University (GTU) is another university whose rector is agressive pro-Ivanishvili, as well as many lecturers there. So, it was never that active in protesting, like TSU was.
Ivanishvili's government decided to merge Tbilisi State University and Georgian Technical University and kill the protest, which could have emerged from universities before.
This is killing the identities of both of the universities, which is sacred place for students.

Ivanishvili's party just announced that it is merging Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University. That is, the cultural and traditional universities lose their independence and identity, which our ancestors left us. That is another step toward the politicization of Tbilisi State University, as this has been the case in GTU for years now.
