I get the point of realms being closed off so communities are fostered, and I do echo that sentiment

But also from my experience in SOD, this at least allows people to not be worried about faction balance and/or a pvp experience they don't want

Honestly when they announced this last night, at first I was like ??? Why would you monetize a race

Then I realized that it doesn’t actually matter whether they say it’s for the race or the game - they will monetize it somehow. The upside to it being the race is that folks who aren’t interested in the race can play WoW forever for free with a sub, rather than buying the expansion.
