"So as soon as I left the vicinity, the building, there was this big van in front of me and students were filled in it. Just imagine, when you see a police van, you think there might be criminals or something, but nowadays, if you see a police van, you know for sure that it contains students, citizens of India. That is so wrong. That narrative has to change. Them thinking that they can do this to us and we will endure it, that needs to change. So I didn't think much; I said, if I am going to raise my voice, it starts right from here."

"So I did my homework. I asked them if they had a memo, because if they are detaining students, you have to have it in writing. So I asked, do you have any memo? They laughed. I understood that was their answer—that no, they don't have it."

"So I put my hand forward to pull a student out, but the van was so full that police steps were there, and they had placed their hands to block it. So the van started moving, and I realized that this could be very ugly if I didn't let her hand go. I can come down. But the whole point of the protest is that the operational word is peaceful, so it will beat the purpose. So I started walking with the van. I am talking, you know, I am trying to have a conversation, because anything you want in life, you have to start with a conversation."

"So I asked them nicely: 'Why are you taking them? Where are you taking them?' They said, 'Madam, we will drop them ahead, we will drop them ahead.' I said, 'If you are going to drop them ahead, then drop them right here! Like, I do not understand what the whole purpose of all this is.' So, as they started going, I realized I cannot keep up with the van. So I caught up and said, 'Now where will you go?'"

So, genuinely, they stood on their ground, and I stood on my ground. People were coming in between, they took photos, they went back, but I had realized that if they push this van, they won't push just one, they will push a hundred. So, that is like a genocide.
