With a title like that, how can I not pick it up! While the United States has been distracted fighting the GWOT, China has been executing a multifaceted strategy to replace the current world order. Let’s see what this author has to say! -@ImposeCost

I recently was reviewing Netflix's very transparent and candid culture page (https://t.co/ZA9ltGp7VS) and @TheCollierJam brought this book to my attention, so I'm diving in. It's a bit refreshing so far. It has been awhile since I've done a @DailyBookDrop! -@ImposeCost
Some of you might know this story at a high level, but many haven’t heard of Ana Montes, largely because there were more publicly impactful things happening when she got arrested. The book is thin, because it’s a first hand account of the CI investigation. Let’s go! -@ImposeCost
Started reading @fred_burton’s Chasing Shadows which came my way after soliciting books on investigations. I haven’t finished it yet, but I enjoyed Beirut Rules, and so far it’s intriguing. -@ImposeCost
I enjoyed Circle of Treason, and am following up with this and some other books to capture as many perspectives about the Aldrich Ames case. Counterintelligence case studies always reveal interesting nuggets, and I’m sure this book will provide some interesting insights!
Good books often lead you to other good books: “if you’re considering management, read Camille Fournier’s book, The Manager’s Path to get a glimpse of what’s in store.”
@skamille’ book is also a previous @DailyBookDrop!
I do not wish to be a SWE. However, I do enjoy reading content like this. I did cheat and skip read around with the digital copy, and there is some good stuff in this book. Specifically, what to expect and how to conduct yourself beyond just knowing how to code. @ImposeCost
The “Working with Managers” chapter had a bunch of good stuff. I can at least attest to the content in that chapter with first hand knowledge from both the perspective of an individual contributor and a manager, even absent the SWE experience.
Everyone can benefit from reading this book, but the people that need it most won’t pick it up. It has been a treat so far. Some takes from @ImposeCost in the quoted thread. @DailyBookDrop
A blog by @Fox0x01 inspired me to get this book. As a manager of a fully remote team, it takes discipline to create an environment for people to do deep work. It’s very easy to inundate people with instant messages. Be deliberate in your communications strategy. #DailyBookDrop
This book wasn't technically a #DailyBookDrop before. However, it is now. I highly recommend this book to all who work in cyber. It is old, but there are a lot of great nuggets that apply and might be familiar to modern practitioners. It's also a fascinating story. -@anthomsec
Congratulations to @MarcSlaughter! You were nominated by @Linkavych, and you have won a book of your choosing from @nostarch sponsored by @DailyBookDrop! Please message this account your selection and where you wish to have the book sent! -@anthomsec
This is all @MarcSlaughter s fault. Give the man a book. He’ll need a distraction for when he’s done with Company command and back to putting “office in officer...but seriously, we all need more books!
In the Write Great Code series is this specimen. I’m not personally interested in software engineering, but I find myself having to interact with enough of it to want to have a more formal understanding. Knowing a little more about adjacent specialties can be helpful. -@anthomsec
I nominate someone who lives far away from the US, requires an expensive airmail delivery, and has a penchant for heavy hardbacks. Why you ask? Because I hope to impose costs on the threat actor that is @anthomsec
Did you miss the last two book giveaways? No worries, March is bringing another opportunity. The @DailyBookDrop will be giving away another @nostarch book 31 March 2021. To enter, nominate someone, or yourself, by quote retweeting this tweet with your nomination! -@anthomsec
Listen, I will tell you right now that I cannot recommend this book because it’s stupid expensive and really thin. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy the content, and I know they had to print it for me, but damn. Anyways, attribution matters, and I’m looking forward to reading it. 😳
