Several Level Up Item and Gems have their details contradict what is up in the game: the Mach Speed would work the same way as what is now the Sonic Boost; the Dummy Ring Bomb would throw an empty item box; and the Teleport Dash could have warped through an enemy and its attacks.

Although Knuckles is normally unable to complete any of the levels in Sonic 06, it is possible to complete the Flame Core level with him by exploiting glitches in the game. Doing this reveals that he has a fully functional level completion animation and rank-specific voice overs.
