Ireland makes an “incursion” into the north.

The N54 (Ireland) crosses the border with the UK four times. During the two times it makes an incursion into the UK it becomes the A3. Upon doing so the speed limit also changes from metric 100 kmh to imperial 60 mph. The road markings also change from yellow to white.

The Government’s €1.5 billion ‘tax cuts’ are largely just stopping people being dragged into higher tax bands. They are presenting a correction to the tax system as a major giveaway.

@feinmhuinin I recently learned of a case where a jealous husband shot a butcher who was rumoured to be sleeping with his wife in Letterkenny in 1916. He was given the option of penal servitude for 5 years or enlist in France. He opted for the trenches and died in 1918. 5 years seems the norm

When I finished college I was briefly on the dole and was called in for an interview with someone from the welfare office who asked had I considered emigrating to Germany to teach there instead.

Unless on disability, no one should be on the dole for 10 years.

How can anyone be searching for a job for 10 years? The system should support people into work, not trap them in long term dependency.

6,300 people have remained on Jobseeker's Allowance for 10 straight years, costing taxpayers €820 million.

A further 30,000 people have stayed on the payment for 5 consecutive years, costing €1.9 billion.
