Farm Safety Reminder ⚠️
In drought years, nitrates can accumulate heavily in the bottom of the plant. After the forage is chopped and ensiled, the plants convert the nitrates into various compounds, eventually releasing Nitrogen Dioxide. This gas is extremely toxic, stay away!

Due to the uncertainty of COVID 19 case numbers and health restrictions, the WCDS Advisory Committee has cancelled the #WCDS2022. We did not want to compromise on safety or the ability to provide a high-quality event. The 40th anniversary will be held on March 7 – 10, 2023.

Our sincerest thanks go out to Canadian farm co-operative @GayLeaFoodsCoop for this very generous donation in support of BC dairy farms affected by the floods—truly, farmers helping farmers!

[Richard Bosma @Richard__Bosma]

Today we got into our flooded yard and rescued our chickens and fed some cats. We also grabbed a few things from our house and our hired help did the same. Water has come down a foot, about 3 1/2 to go. Day by day, still thankful for all the support!
