Chapter 15 of Luke contains a series parables of searching for lost things. The familiar "Parable of the Lost Son" gives us the opportunity to enter the story from the vantage point different members of this family. #LukeActs2025#DKMN
We find another parable in Luke 14 - the Parable of the Great Banquet. In it, Jesus tells of a man inviting people to a great banquet - only to have the invitations rebuffed because of excuses of other things that took priority. So the host expanded the invite to the margins.
In chapter 13, Jesus tells a story of a fig tree that hasn't been bearing fruit and so the owner tells the gardener to cut it down. But the gardener sees it differently and suggests they give it one more year of intentional tending to see if might still produce fruit. #DKMN
Chapter 12 contains an interesting story of "the rich fool" who believed that his wealth could secure his future. It's easy to judge his hubris - and yet how often do we live under the illusion that we can control things. Jesus reminds us that this is not reality. #LukeActs2025
