Can a single test simultaneously serve as an accountability instrument, an instructional tool, and a measure of local flexibility?
My latest for @educationgadfly on why we need to be wary of promises that sound too good to be true.
Nonsense. First it was KIPP, not Doug who developed SLANT. Second, this is a cartoonish (and knowing) mischaracterization. KIPP and other high-performing charter schools have done more for black and brown children and their upward mobility than any other educational organization or movement. That they were cowed into submission by these kinds of risible charges is tragic.
We can't innovate our way out of basic assessment tradeoffs.
Thanks @NCIEA1 for calling out my latest in @educationgadfly on the limits of through-year testing!
WATCH: My only time in North Dakota was a magical trip to Medora, so seeing this preview of the new @TRPresLibrary makes me eager to get back.
