Dalton Associates provides specialized mental health and wellness services that are culturally sensitive, safe, accessible, and timely, throughout Ontario.
Grief should not be carried in isolation. Our thoughts are with the OPP and the family as they mourn the loss of a fellow officer who died in the line of duty yesterday.
The Encompas Mental Health Wellness Program is here to provide compassionate, confidential support for members, their families, and teams navigating this difficult time. With people who have real lived experience and offer ongoing guidance, we’re here when it matters most.
Please reach out to an Encompas Care Manager at 1-866-794-9117 or visit https://t.co/67Yq45e4SD. Support is available 24/7/365.
You are not alone.
This National Indigenous History Month, we pause to honour the stories, cultures, and traditions that have shaped this land for generations. These histories are not just reflections of the past they continue to influence identity, community, and well-being today.
At the heart of mental health is connection: to ourselves, to one another, and to culture. Indigenous perspectives remind us that healing is holistic, rooted in balance, belonging, and respect. This month is an invitation to listen more deeply, learn with intention, and reflect with care. We remain committed to continuing this learning, supporting mental health in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and grounded in understanding.
As a part of our commitment to supporting our Indigenous communities, we are partnering with Centre Wellington in recognition of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and learning. This event is being held at the beautiful Elora Centre for the Arts on September 30th.

We had the pleasure of attending and being a proud sponsor of the 94th PAO Convention, held in Windsor, Ontario, from May 26–29. The convention provided a valuable opportunity to connect with police organizations, industry partners, and leaders to engage in important conversations around the future of policing and organizational support.
Representing our team at this year’s event were our CEO, Carl Dalton, Program Manager, Jen Welsh, and Program Development Coordinator, Kimm Grant. We were especially proud to showcase the CPA Equipt Canada App, a solution designed by police to support police organizations with practical tools, trusted resources, and strategic guidance to help create more effective, well-equipped, and supportive environments for their teams.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we had the privilege of attending several incredible events.
We kicked things off at our annual Quality Assurance Symposium, an inspiring opportunity to come together, reflect, and celebrate the impactful work happening across our company. With insightful guest speakers and presentations from our own team, it set the tone for an exciting month ahead.
We then had the chance to be part of both CIP-SRT and Pri-Med, where we connected with like-minded professionals and shared meaningful conversations.
To wrap it up, we attended the APPQ Delegates Conference, where we were proud to highlight our Equipt Care Program.
And this is just the beginning. May marked the start of a busy and exciting season of events. Stay tuned to see where we go next!

We’re proud to support programs, events and spaces that strengthen the communities we serve.
The newly revitalized space at Elora Centre for the Arts, is now open to the public, and will host community events, special gatherings, and celebrations that bring people together.
At Dalton Associates, we’re honoured to support the Centre’s efforts to create barrier-free, accessible spaces, because we know that community connection plays an important role in mental wellness. Support of mental health doesn’t only happen in counselling rooms, it also happens through shared experiences, creativity, and the relationships we build with one another.
We’re inspired by this next chapter for the Elora Centre for the Arts and look forward to continuing to support community initiatives that help people connect, be creative, and thrive.

Toxic shame is more than feeling bad about something you’ve done. It is the belief that something is wrong with you at your core. Often shaped by early experiences like criticism, neglect, or feeling unseen, it can show up as constant self-doubt, people-pleasing, or a harsh inner voice that’s hard to quiet.
The impact can be subtle but far-reaching, affecting how you relate to yourself and others, how you take risks, and how worthy you feel of care, success, or connection.
The good news is that toxic shame is not permanent. With awareness, self-compassion, supportive relationships, and the right therapeutic support, it is possible to challenge these beliefs and begin to see yourself more clearly and more kindly.
If this resonates, you are not alone.

On May 1, Dalton Associates welcomed staff, partners, and Associates to our annual Quality Assurance Symposium at the Royal Botanical Gardens for a day focused on learning, connection, and professional growth.
Our keynote speaker, Alyson Schafer, presented The Healing Power of Belonging and Connection, exploring how meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging play a critical role in resilience, healing, and mental wellbeing.
Additional presentations throughout the day explored the future of mental health care, the importance of comprehensive sexuality education across the lifespan, and practical strategies for recognizing and responding to vicarious trauma in clinical practice. Attendees heard from Dr. Yelena Chorny, Jessica Cauchi, and Dr. Siobhan Bell, who each shared valuable insights drawn from their clinical, academic, and leadership experience.
The symposium also featured presentations and updates from Dalton Associates leadership and staff, highlighting ongoing growth, innovation, and initiatives across our programs and services.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the day such a success. We look forward to welcoming everyone together again at a future Quality Assurance Symposium.
Dalton Associates is attending the 2026 @CIPSRT_ICRTSP Conference in Calgary this week as a proud Silver Sponsor. The conference brings together researchers, clinicians, leaders, and organizations from across Canada who are dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of current and former public safety personnel, their leaders, and their families. Carl Dalton (CEO) and Michelle Goldsworthy (Director of Operations) are attending on behalf of Dalton Associates and connecting with attendees at the Dalton Associates booth, where they’re sharing information about our services and programs supporting the public safety community, including Equipt Care.
Conference attendees can also learn more about the Equipt Canada App, a free, confidential, self-directed wellness tool built by police for Canadian policing. Powered by Dalton Associates in partnership with the Canadian Police Association, the app provides officers and families with private wellness resources designed to complement live support services.
We also have a poster presentation on display titled “Building a Path Forward for Families After Tragedy,” highlighting the Ontario Immediate Family Wellness Program's early journey, including implementation challenges, operational adaptations, and emerging patterns in service use.

May 5th is the day we honour and remember the thousands of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
The colour red was chosen for its deep cultural significance and because it is believed to be the only colour spirits can see. It calls those who are missing back home. These dresses are not just symbols of loss, but of love, resistance, remembrance, and the urgent need for justice.
At Dalton, we recognize that the impacts of systemic violence, colonialism, and intergenerational trauma are deeply connected to mental health and wellbeing. Healing requires safe spaces, access to culturally informed care, and a commitment to listening to and amplifying Indigenous voices.

May 4th-10th is mental health week here in Canada.
CMHA’s Come Together Canada campaign highlights what we embody at Dalton. At our core, we believe early conversations and ongoing support can change lives. Recognizing stress, anxiety, burnout, or emotional fatigue is the first step toward care, not something to ignore or push aside.

Our mental health doesn’t exist in isolation. It’s shaped by the world around us.
Time in nature can calm our nervous system, restore focus, and support emotional well-being. At the same time, environmental change and loss are creating real experiences of stress, grief, and uncertainty for many people.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or impacted by what’s happening in the world around you, you’re not alone. These responses are valid, and support is available.
At Dalton Associates, we provide personalized, human-centered mental health support designed to meet you where you are. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, or something harder to name, our team is here to help.
