As I look back on my six decades, I am surprised and appalled at the changes in our society. I've watched the LGB go from being illegal and a mental disorder to being removed from the DSM and be legally recognized with civil rights. As a Transsexual we were "invite only" in gay spaces. At the beginning of my transition in 1988 it was finally legal to be gay but it was illegal to crossdress. It was the civil Rights act of New York (1984) that added protection for me because people always assumed I was gay. Transsexuals were not actually listed. Matter of fact, many federal laws like the original handicap law had an exemption for transsexuals and pedophiles. We were often grouped in with the pedophiles due to people's ignorance. Transition was a cash basis. There really were very few insurance companies that would cover transition. It was often listed as an exclusion in policies. I was lucky and found a loophole in my company's insurance policy to help cover my costs. Since then, they've closed it and it's now nicknamed the Melissa loophole. So tell me what rights you don't have? Are you worried because people don't want to accept your pronouns or 57 flavors of gender? None of that is about civil rights. When you won't be hired for a job or denied housing, then you can start talking about civil rights. It is no longer required to have surgery before state documents can be updated. As a matter of fact you have very little to do to change records. Self ID is also a plague upon this transgender community. Transvestites love, it but it creates a bad image for the community. It's allowed those that would have remained behind closed doors to come to the forefront. No one is beating you up for being trans as a matter in fact, it's the trans community that tends to throw the first punch, which is just appalling. Life is rough, get over it, nobody owes you anything. There are no safe spaces in the real world and no one cares about your feelings. Just because you feel it's wrong, means nothing to the world unless you can make a valid point. The TG community has yet to do that. In fact they have eroded much of our acceptance in society. Transsexuals used to have an unspoken social contract with the world. The transtrenders have destroyed this by playing in women's sports, entering women's spaces looking like a man in a wig, and just being a$$holes. The transvestite community which has always been kept behind doors is now running wild, like a party in the streets. Years ago transsexuals used to be honest with each other and speak the truths that were hard to hear. Actually we had no real community back then. We bump into one another now and then in a club. Transition from one gender to the other and disappeared to live our lives (stealth). We didn't live in our "transness.* Being transsexual is a private space, not a public space. The last thing we want is to draw attention to ourselves. But because of this ideology, I've been forced to speak publicly to protect my daughter from the transgender ideology. Leave minors out of this discussion. This is an adult only space. The only medical help a child needs is therapy. Most kids will outgrow it and end up gay. It's almost like TG's are trying to trying to trans the gay away. The gay community needs to recover what it means to be LGB and cut the rest of this ideology loose. It's a Marxist cancer that needs to be eradicated. And I'm sure I just pissed a whole bunch of people off, but I don't care. You should never have to monitor the truth.
