Poor lad. It honestly broke my heart and my eyes teared hearing his shaky voice. seeing how much pressure was placed on him to take a side. I don’t argue this anymore because it is a very subjective argument. We live in a country where the average person earns less than 100k.

Someone earning and living on 80k (probably with a partner and kids) cannot imagine a world where 500k won’t be enough for a single person. It is very true.

500k for them is a dream salary, and majority of Nigerians belong in this bucket. Majority. In fact, I have people whose entire life will change if they start earning 300k monthly.

So yes. Both sides have an equally valid argument. It is very subjective…so I don’t really disagree with anything.

Whatever you think on this topic is true.
Whatever the other person thinks is also true. Just different realities.

But as for me o, 500k monthly in Lagos right now may send me to new sites to carry “konkere”.

This is sad, but if we’re being real, this sentiment is more common than we think. No generation is exempt from it but younger generations are particularly vulnerable because they were practically born with phones tethered to their hands. At 20-21, it is completely normal to be broke, to be just starting out in life, to make mistakes… This pressure is what’s not normal.

Used to work at this job and at the end of the month, we were paid salaries.
