Sanctuary politicians are taking Americans’ hard earned tax dollars to reward illegal aliens who break the law.

This insanity shows once again who they put first.

Portland is becoming a cautionary tale of what happens when local government abandons the basic responsibilities of governing and instead becomes a platform for ideological activism and national political kabuki theater.

City government should be focused on the fundamentals: fixing potholes, maintaining streets and parks, delivering permits on time, balancing the budget, protecting taxpayers, and ensuring public safety.

Yet in Portland, those core responsibilities increasingly compete with ideological agendas that have little to do with whether the city actually functions.

Our new three-seat ranked-choice system only compounds the problem. Candidates can prevail without earning anything close to broad majority support, allowing highly motivated ideological factions to wield disproportionate influence while moderate voters disengage, leave, or simply stop believing their participation matters.

Then layer in taxpayer-funded advocacy nonprofits, public-sector unions, consultants, and the permanent political ecosystem that benefits from ever-larger government—and you get exactly what Portland has: a system increasingly accountable to activists and institutions rather than the broader public that pays for it.

The result is not compassionate governance. It is expensive dysfunction.

Good local government isn't supposed to be revolutionary. It's supposed to work.

Fill the potholes. Process the permits. Keep the parks clean. Balance the budget. Protect public safety. Deliver competent services for the taxes people already pay.

That may sound boring to ideological activists.

But boring, competent, accountable government is exactly what Portland desperately needs right now.

WA state has been under Democrat control for over 40 years. Accountability has vanished to the point where Governor Ferguson thinks he can just ignore the will of voters by signing an income tax into law with the stroke of his pen.

He knows it’s unconstitutional. His advisors told him so! He knows it will be challenged in court. But he also knows his loyal appointed Supreme Court judges will rule in his favor.

He is grossly abusing his power. Even former Democrat governors Gary Locke and Christine Gregoire have called him out for it and have said this goes too far.

WA has a major spending problem, NOT an income problem.

Our best chance to reclaim even a hint of balance in this state is to vote YES on the initiatives in November AND elect Supreme Court justices who will defend our state constitution instead of undermining it.
