No, I'm not dead.
Every so often, I detox from social media for 1-2 weeks. Every time I do this, I hate it... Then I notice a swift flurry of long-lasting benefits.
Here are just a few:
1. Improved mental clarity
2. Infinitely more productive
3. A reconnection to reality
4. Way less FOMO
5. Much, much better sleep
6. Reprioritization of goals
And lastly, my favorite: I stop caring about mostly all forms of competition, (unless it's against former versions of myself).
Do I recommend you detox? I wanna say "yeah."
Social media by itself isn't a bad thing, but it can be the #1 roadblock that separates you from the outcomes you want in life; whatever they may be.
I honestly mean that, too. It's crazy to think that most people spend 8 hours a day on their phone.
Another epiphany I had was that most content creators have gotten sucked into making content they like anymore.
They make content they think people want and become engagement farming slaves to an algorithm with a hunger that will never be satisfied.
It goes deeper.
Traders feel like they're constantly missing out on the next shiny opportunity. Artists cave to demands of speculators. Founders feel lost to demands of an industry that never sleeps...
People even stoop to starting pointless drama just to feel something. Damn funny sometimes, sure –– but it's also kinda sad.
This isn't exclusive to Web3, either. It's universal.
So again, if you've been feeling lost in the belly of the beast, I do recommend it. It's as simple as turning off your phone and deleting a few apps.
