it hurts. so i absorb, then i learn. and because i've come to understand what pain does to a person, it's hard for me to hold what they did against them. sometimes, even when they hurt me.
The mannequins offer only so much words even if they don’t have a voice box… sometimes I talk to the guards despite not being so keen with being buddies with me .
Well — if you ever need bones for a reason let me know, I’ll happily lend them.
( she offered a smile , only half of her appearance is concealed behind a mask . )
It certainly is , better than having doctors or reagents come in and out to bother you.
They are all yours, dear.
( he mimics her tone before deciding - mm, that doesn't fit his own voice. )
It is nice to finally have some pleasant company.
He’s an odd fellow at best , His mentorship is questions I’ll say, you are no issue to me so I do have to say that you are one of the good doctors.
( returning the smile )
Do tell , I’m quite curious .
⠀
not a fan? good, good. i’m no fan of him either. but i hope i’m the one doctor you can gossip about.
(smile.)
i’ve got a sour opinion of the others, too.
⠀
Chimes I assumed .. unless you need them for something. . . Occasionally I just throw them out .
( she leans back against the wall behind her, enjoying her cup of tea. )
I suppose , though I’d say it’s best to cook the meat than eat it raw off the bone .
Heh , I appreciate the words dear . Oh I don’t need a man at all , I’ve been doing these things since I’ve learned to hunt back in Oklahoma.
Fortunately for me it’s the meals that they fed us . Occasionally the limbs of my dead reagents in my trials.. keeps a girl on her toes.
( she takes a small sip from the cup eventually answering. )
Men like him were suppose to protect us, back home that is +
Every morning I brew a pot. It keeps my head on as straight as I can manage. The little things ..
( a wistful sigh. )
You have no reason to be afraid of him. Underneath it all, he is a man, and men can die.
Hopefully , if not I’ll have to talk to the doctor about quieting him down.
( the noise from the trials helped deafen the sounds but hardly when it went silent and the mask she wore hardly helped. )
I tell ya’ some of these men in blue are a piece of work.
⠀
pffft——(he covers his mouth & stifles the laugh.)
he’ll become background noise soon enough.
(he can’t say much. his costume’s mask is so thick that it dampens sound.)
⠀
Well gosh darn, I need a strong tea.
( delicate hands reach for the chipped cup — the smell of the steaming earl grey already calming her down. )
Been needing one ever since they built my trial close to the prison farm.
Of course. I brew it strong.
( offering forth a chipped cup full of steaming earl grey - whether it belongs to him or not, it looks well taken care of despite the flaws. )
It reverberates in my ears.
