Warriors of limp and crawl, of curl and bawl, of word and sign and AAC, of struggling and victory..
We're this week's bogeyman - but you're brill. We're together across a movement and across movements crying human rights for all. #AssistUsToLive
Solidarity, siblings!
Seeing lots of MPs claiming 90% of people receiving PIP will be unaffected by the #Labour government cuts. The Office for Budget Responsibility's official report shows that 52% of people awarded PIP after a recent reassessment wouldn't meet the new requirements
DWP PIP cuts under fire as Labour MP goes rogue and launches huge petition
@RichardBurgon has launched a petition that's already hit over 40,000 signatures, opposing DWP PIP and Universal Credit cuts - and calling for a wealth tax

Out of 22 policy changes proposed in the DWP Green Paper, only 11 can actually be responded to in the consultation. The big cuts are being rammed through in a new Bill we are not allowed to consult on.
It’s a CON-SUL-TAY-SHAM!!!

8.8 million people in the UK experience anxiety or depression each week. Just 361,000 get PIP for it. PIP isn’t for the ‘worried well’—it’s for those with serious, disabling illness. Labour knows this. They’re counting on the public not to. #WelfareNotWarfare#DisabilityBenefits
People with learning difficulties from across the capital have delivered a powerful call to the government over threatened cuts to disability benefits, and warned they could take “drastic” action if ministers do not listen to their concerns.

New research links a significant rise in sickness and mental ill-health since the start of the pandemic to an increase in the number of people claiming disability benefits, just as ministers prepare to announce significant cuts to that support.

We cannot have a situation where the lives of disabled people are made even harder.
Those with the broadest shoulders should bear the greatest burden.
On @itvcalendar, I explained my firm opposition to any cuts in benefits for disabled people.
A good #SocialSecurity system doesn’t just protect disabled & unemployed people—it protects all of us.
Lose your job? Get sick? Care for a loved one? Stuck in a minimally waged job that barely covers rent? You’ll need it too.
When the safety net breaks, we can all fall.
Research links increase in ill-health to rising benefit claims, just as government prepares ‘catastrophic’ cuts https://t.co/dGBxphpjZZ via @johnpringdns
Dismayed to see you sharing such a misleading & potentially deeply frightening video, Kim.
If someone is in 'unspeakable pain' at the end of life, they should see a palliative care doctor like me - & I can promise you there is always something I can do for your pain. (1/n)
This is exactly what our @TheNotDeadYetUK campaign is about. FUND palliative care NOT death clinics instead. Fund hospice care . Fund social care. That is why people are suffering. We're not dogs
If they don't see a palliative care doctor like me - because we are such an appallingly under-resourced service (if only the committee cared as much about *this* issue as they do AD) - then that person is being failed unforgivably. They are not receiving appropriate care. (2/n)
Life extending treatment being denied to some?
Reminds me of what happened in Oregon after assisted suicide was legalised
Some patients received letters saying their life extending treatment had been refused but assisted suicide was available instead

Today, I finally joined @TheGreenParty
After months of governance, it is clear that @UKLabour are just entirely unfit for office. The social conservatism paired with total economic inadequacy is so far from the core values of the Labour Party and politics on the left. Watching a supposed left-wing party relentlessly try (and fail) to pander to those on the right, whilst abandoning everything they used to stand for has grown tiring.
I stand for LGBTQ+ rights, rights for migrants and asylum seekers, climate justice, and liberty and freedom above all.
The need for a strong left-wing opposition has never been more important, and that force is @TheGreenParty
I think the most damaging aspect of current disability benefits press releases is that they are coming out before the specific proposals from the Labour government, so disabled people don't know the details of how it is going to affect them; they are just being attacked in the media.
