@greenfieldjohn Agreed. I usually do "Good morning, I'm on your left" it softens the bark a bit. I also subscribe to the theory that it's optional if you're more than an arms length away when you pass.

I had some issues this morning on #ChiLFT. Crunchy snow around Cricket Hill, and snow/some ice Oak to Monroe. I managed it on the mountain bike but would have been very tough with skinny tires. #bikechi

UPDATE: The issue appears to be on the ramp that leads up to the bridge. TV news footage looks to me like #chiLFT isn't affected. If I'm wrong about that, you could take Columbus over the river and pick up the trail at Illinois.

The Lake Shore Drive bridge over the river is closed, per Chicago DOT. Not clear if this includes #chiLFT.

NotifyChicago: All Northbound lanes on Lake Shore Dr are closed from Monroe to Grand due to a CDOT Structural Emergency on the Bridge. Seek alternate route.

@BicycleLobby I bring home groceries for 4 all the time on my bike, in the panniers and sometimes a backpack. My kid transports a full-size upright bass in a Burley child trailer. I should note we do this year round.

#ChiLFT is rideable this morning Ardmore to Monroe. There is some snow north of Lawrence and from Oak to Monroe. I didn't have any trouble--I did not encounter any ice. There were @ChicagoParks trucks working so the whole thing will be clear soon enough. #bikechi

#chiLFT is good Ardmore to Monroe except the underpass at Montrose. It is completely flooded and I got to ride 7 miles with boots filled with water. Take the extra 90 seconds and go around. #bikechi #DontBeADan
