If you think a disabled person streaming within their own means on a schedule that meets their needs must mean that they can work a job, I want you to know that this is an ableist take.

I would love to have a WFH job but with how dynamic and unpredictable my disability is, I would not be a reliable employee. I wouldn’t want to hire me! I do not currently have the spoons to get into just how much my disability impedes on my everyday life right now, but some days I can’t string a sentence together. Some days I can’t get out of bed. Some days, I can’t bear light or sound or even a having a thought because even those seem too loud.

So so so disheartening to see streamers I’ve looked up to speak so terrible on disability.

No one talks about how much energy it takes to show emotion as a chronically ill person. Crying takes energy, yelling takes energy, etc. We have to suppress our emotions to conserve our energy. If it looks like we aren’t struggling, we are. We just can’t show it as much.
