You’ve been lied to about Africa.
@MagatteW: “Africa is not poor because of colonialism. Africa is poor because we have made it impossible for our people to create wealth.”
What happens if economic policy incentivizes the Scottish to produce more wine and fewer sheep? As @MightyHeaton explains, everyone gets less wine, less haggis, and higher prices.
This is an OUTSTANDING Executive Order. It's somewhat nerdy and lawyer-y (which is maybe why I like it so much). But it might be the most significant thing this administration has done to date.

The Milei Miracle
HE’S DONE IT : Argentina celebrates first week without food inflation in 30 years
Perhaps there’s something to these Libertarians?

It has been a historic week for Argentina.
A country known for its high inflation has just experienced its first week without price increases in food and beverages in three decades, according to private consulting firm Econométrica.
The libertarian leader took on the fight against inflation as soon as he was inaugurated in December. Milei inherited an annual inflation of 142%, accompanied by falling economic activity and record debt.
In other words: for each of the past 30 years, food and beverage prices have done nothing but increase, until the third week of June 2024, where they remained the same as the previous one.
@RCownie@DylanMAllman Well said. If he can stay in office for four years, that’s long enough to see some impact. I’m very biased. I want to see what happens.
@RCownie@DylanMAllman Yes stability. Of course not lack of political noise. But someone starting or expanding a business will have no fear of being nationalized and no fear that the government will limit the ability to make necessary decisions to discover prices and find markets.
