The sale of Reading prison is expected to complete "in the autumn," the government said... And, as the last leaves dangle off the trees, the penny finally drops: they must have meant Autumn 2024... 🤔😜🍁 1/4
Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition to save Reading Gaol. This issue affects the heart of Reading and needs your support.
The Gaol has an long history, from kings to poets and artists and it is at risk of being sold off to a property developer to build luxury flats.
Another fabulous performance from @IllyriaTheatre@kentontheatre despite the noisy geese, helicopter and an inhumane number of mosquitoes to have to work through. Brilliant Twelfth Night, really great to see they managed to still get some of that fab singing in too😁
We are overwhelmed by the HUNDREDS of people who turned out for the #SaveReadingGaol march. We couldn't have hoped for better support. 🙌 The people of Reading are resilient & determined in their pursuit of the Gaol as an #artsandculture venue. 🎨🎭🖼️📽️🎵🎻🎙️ 🧵1/7
Fancy supporting the next generation of film makers? Fancy being scared by … a kettle(?) then look no further, do I have the project for you to back. This fabulous film by Uni students needs to raise the money to be made. Full details here https://t.co/3Gr3YodA7b
IT'S HERE! 🔥🔥🔥
Our brand new film, showcasing everything we love about outdoor theatre.
Please share it and tag a pal so we can welcome even more Illyrians into our world next summer 🥰
So here it is: A Day in the Life of Illyria!
Liked it so much I couldn’t resist seeing it twice. Yet again @IllyriaTheatre put on a brilliant performance of Pirates of Penzance, this time at @HanburyHallNT. See it whilst you still can, such a talented cast!
What a great way to spend the evening a fabulous @IllyriaTheatre#PitatesOfPenzance#OutdoorTheatre@kentontheatre Fab cast, brilliant production, amazing singing & acting, far too many funny moments not to end up with a smile on your face. Go see it whilst they’re still touring!
Our next outing is to The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury on Thurs 24th March. There's a nice dance floor for dancers, and plenty of seating for spectators. There's also a free dance class included from @theswingeraUK dance school! It's all for a really great cause - see you there!

And why do they want to donate!? Coz they perceive the inherent value of preserving our #heritage for future generations & building an #ArtsCentre where the #Rdg arts scene can flourish in its multiple forms...

Art lovers, just to update you on the Reading Gaol situation - there is still hope! It can still be an art centre. Not a block of flats! The Ministry of Justice has been unable to sell it to developers. Reading Council has made a new offer. Support and follow @SaveReadingGaol
