@Crusher_Rob@MartinSLewis@ofgem Except, you could end up with ridiculous transmission charges etc which would sting even for customers who use very little...e.g. unit rate of 150p/kWh for remote house 500kWh annually because it costs so much to send so little. Agree needs review but far from straightforward.

@BBCNews what gives with the headline discrepancy? Don't you think you have a responsibility to not deliberately induce anxiety? Have *all* bankers been told to return to desks by *all* banks? Even your bloody article says not! Headlines are journalism too, have some standards!
@robertcp@jo_regular@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 So you disagree with considering further measures, got it. As for being qualified to comment, no particular qualifications to merit justification except the numbers: 141k hosp. beds, high % usually taken up in winter, & a virulent new variant that requires a booster. NHS at risk.
@robertcp@jo_regular@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 You said you disagree, but were not clear on whether that disagreement was over the NHS facing pressure or it being worthwhile considering further measures.
27.6m eligible for boost who haven't yet (let alone x1 or x2 vax); we're boosting at <1M/d. That's a 1mth window for Omi to double every 2d. Any not x3 vax at higher risk. Quoting high vax levels as reason to not worry when to x2 vax, not x3, is IRRESPONSIBLE journalism.
Would tougher measures really be worth it? - @BBCNews@NickTriggle honestly the lack of balance in your "health correspondent"'s writing is shocking. Refs study about high vax levels that was published prior to knowledge Omicron easily evades x2 vax. Poor.
@robertcp@jo_regular@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 You disagree there's a risk to the NHS with omi doubling every 2-3 days and est. 40m more vulnerable to it, but it'll take 50 days to even offer booster to all? Realise omi *might* not be as severe but NHS risk is around sheer numbers.
@robertcp@jo_regular@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 Yes, but even at 800k boosters a day, we're a long way from getting that 40m down whilst Omi is doubling every 2-3 days. There's a clear risk to NHS of the protection timing not being right, hence worth considering temporary measures.
@robertcp@jo_regular@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 It's been stated by several sources that x2 vax offers far lower protection against Omi than Del, but that booster offers good protection (75%). On that basis, anyone not boosted is at risk of getting ill from Omi. This is why the focus is on the booster program.
@jo_regular@robertcp@Davidpr52119342@iainmartin1 Also, double-vax isn't really relevant to Omic. 40m without a booster presently. If at peak 5% of that group were to catch it a day, that would be 2m cases. 5% hospitalisation rate would = 100,000. Deaths = 5,000. Deaths would go up exp. as NHS buckles.
@BBCNews Fixed your shoddy journalism deliberately misorders the quote to less conniving:
"It wasn't a party, it was wine and cheese."
"Is wine and cheese alright...is this recorded? This *fictional* party was a business meeting, and... it was not socially distanced."
https://t.co/7DZ0cbywAx - states this incorrect description of toxic masculinity (literally, just check Wikipedia's first line for a better description- https://t.co/It9AZ3RPTn) - please fix this, @BBCNews :
@NickFletcherMP Not too often you'd hear someone suggest James Bond is a positive role model; then again, not too often you hear someone criticise the phrase "toxic masculinity" whilst simultaneously bemoaning the criminal bent of male fictional characters!
@BBCNews nice touch having pic in dingy, crowded home office having to type & answer phone @ the same time. Almost like you've been tapped to prop up the Govt fantasy that any home working is awful & any right-minded person (read landlord) should be "down with this sort of thing"
