#dandarostreets Residents of Budiriro 1 are already grappling with a worsening water crisis as Zimbabwe faces growing drought concerns. Every morning, children and adults queue for hours at boreholes and alternative water points to secure water for their daily needs. Residents say council water is only available on Thursday evenings and often runs dry by Friday morning, leaving households struggling to access one of life’s most basic necessities.
At Total Service Station in Budiriro 1, long queues have become a daily reality as residents collect two free buckets of water per person. The station’s efforts have provided much-needed relief to the community, but growing demand highlights the fragility of these alternative supplies. For many families, the struggle is not simply about convenience; it is about securing enough water for drinking, cooking, washing and sanitation.
As the water crisis deepens, pressing questions remain over the response from the City of Harare and the government. What happens if the boreholes run dry, and where will residents turn next? With drought fears mounting, Budiriro’s daily struggle underscores the urgent need for sustainable water solutions before an already difficult situation deteriorates further.

#dandarostreets The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has conditionally cleared the National Sports Stadium to host up to 10,000 spectators for two upcoming matches, marking a limited return of fans following safety concerns at the venue.
The matches are Zimbabwe vs Malawi in the Women’s Olympic Qualifier on 13 October and, provisionally, Scottland FC vs Atlético Petróleos de Luanda in the CAF Champions League on 17 October. ZIFA says gates will open five hours before kick-off, with strict security checks, controlled entry and designated seating.
Enhanced security and crowd-management measures will be enforced following the recent death of a supporter and crowd disturbances. CAF will monitor compliance, with further restrictions possible if safety requirements are not met.
