I might be in the minority here, but I would love and watch a separate G5 playoff. 8-12 teams with all games until the championship on campuses would be meaningful games worth watching. Not these (probable) annual mismatches in the CFP.

Should there be an open path every year for a G5 team to make the playoff as an at large? Yes.

Should there be a guaranteed spot every single year? Clearly not.

I’m alright with teams like 2021 Cincy and 2024 Boise State getting a CFP bid.
