I’ll give you 10.
1. Buy a car before you build a house.
2. Start investing now. Even if it’s just ₦10,000 every single month. Give it 10 years and you’ll thank yourself.
3. Never spend money to please anybody. Spend only when it's needed. Know the difference between needs and wants.
4. Invest in your future, not in validation. Don’t buy the latest iPhone just so people can see you have money. A smartphone is a smartphone.
5. Live on 70% of your salary. The other 30% goes strictly into savings and investments. No excuses.
6. Stop womanizing. Find one good woman and stay loyal. Womanizing costs far more than you think.
7. Never engage in fraud. You’ll only destroy your future. Dirty money will cost you your peace and your health.
8. If you earn ₦100k a month, your rent should never exceed ₦100–150k. You shouldn’t have to save for months just to pay rent. One month’s salary (or one and a half at most) should cover it.
9. Invest in mutual funds.
10. Invest in good books. Read financial books. Here are 10 I recommend:
- The Richest Man in Babylon - George S. Clason
- Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki
- The Psychology of Money – Morgan Housel
- I Will Teach You To Be Rich – Ramit Sethi
- The Millionaire Next Door – Thomas J. Stanley
- Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
- Your Money or Your Life – Vicki Robin
- The Intelligent Investor – Benjamin Graham
- Atomic Habits – James Clear (money is built on habits)
- A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel

One question I keep seeing is whenever I talk about long term investments is "what if Cowrywise or PalmPay shuts down tomorrow? What happens to my money?"
Now let me address this properly.
Your mutual fund investment is not stored inside the app. The app is just the interface. Your actual money is invested in underlying assets like Treasury Bills, government securities and bonds that are held separately from the company running the platform.
So if Cowrywise shuts down tomorrow, your money does not vanish. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Nigeria regulates all licensed mutual fund platforms.
If a licensed platform closes, the SEC steps in, oversees the process and ensures your funds are either transferred to another fund manager or liquidated and returned to you based on your current balance.
The keyword here is licensed. This is why I only recommend SEC registered platforms. An unregistered platform has doesn't have any protection. If it shuts down, your money goes with it.
The SEC has shut down over 400 illegal investment schemes in the last three years alone. Most of them looked completely legitimate on the surface. People lost real money.
Cowrywise and PalmPay are both SEC registered. That is part of why I recommend them.
Your money is safer and better in a licensed mutual fund than it is in most banks. Stop being scared and start investing. 10-15 years is not too far.
Above all, love God.
1. Don't wait for people to engage with you before you engage back. As long as you can see their tweets, engage them.
2. Reposting should be a must for you. Unless the tweet is completely against your belief or against X's rules. Whether a tweet makes sense to you or not, as long as it's your mutual's, repost it.
3. Your followers are not your fans. Humble yourself and engage people. Keeping a clean page will do you no good.
4. Whenever someone quotes your tweet, do well to repost the quote even before you drop a comment. The quote is to help push your tweet, and you shouldn't drop just a like and comment. Repost it.
5. Your mutual's enemy is not your enemy. Learn to mind your business and speak only when it directly affects you. Stop laughing when your mutual is being insulted.
6. Have notifications on for your favorite accounts. About 10-20 of them, and don't ask them to have your notifications on too. Do it because you like their tweets and not because you want them to reciprocate. Make sure you always engage them and watch out for the ones who see your tweets and never repost.
7. Whenever someone quotes your tweet and it goes viral, do well to appreciate the person. A simple "thank you very much" would go a long way. Stop feeling like it's your right.
Above all, love God.
