@MatthewTabeek@willmcfadden A certain magic still lingers in the very name. It speaks of duels in the snow and cold November mud.
Bonus points if you can name who said that line.
You are posting too often on social media and not using enough social platforms.
In the last week, we analyzed 8,029,303 social media posts across all the major platforms.
Guess how many of those posts got engagement?
And by engagement, I mean likes, comments, and shares.
Only 39.58% of the content.
When you use social media, you see the stuff that has engagement, as most social networks are discovery networks.
Where they show you what’s hot based on your interests.
So you aren’t really seeing the stuff that hasn’t been doing well.
To top it off, not only are most people not engaging with most of the content being published…
But we surveyed 3000 marketers to get a better understanding of why:
- On average, people post 2.6 pieces of content daily per social network.
- They have accounts on 8.3 social networks but, on average, only use 6.1 social networks.
- They spend, on average, 24 minutes to create each piece of content.
- Less than 10% of their content generates more than 10 likes.
What most marketers don’t get is algorithms penalize you for putting out crap content.
When you start putting out good content for once, it takes a while for it to start performing well, as you have to rebuild the credibility of your account.
So, instead of posting too often on social media, focus first on posting quality stuff people want to engage with.
Once you get that right, then increase your posting frequency.
And if you aren’t sure what people will like, test a lot of content out on X.
See, X doesn’t really penalize you if you put up crap content.
So, post as often as you want on X, take your winners, and post them on the rest of the social networks.
If you do that you’ll start getting engagement and save time.
At least the posts you are publishing will get traction, so you won’t be wasting as much time.
