Roleplay make you uncomfortable? Talk about the scene from the third person as a writer looking in. Discuss what your character wants and how they go about it. You don't always need to use voices or talk as if you were in character. This can be hard not just with NPC but PC's.

So when you interact say things like..."El'uan speaks with Freya about their past. Discussing the challenges they faced as a child. At one point El'uan is quiet and reflective"
I know some people who go back afterward and write out those scenes with actual dialogue!
