A roadmap to becoming a full-time self-published author:
- Write a great book
- Have the confidence to publish
- Drive relevant traffic to your book
- Build a loyal audience of readers (email list)
- Repeat the steps above, and enjoy every moment
Persistence pays off.
@MatthewJHolmes1 I think it might depends on the book/niche as well. For us, what works best sometimes, oddly, is just the cover with a white background and zero text on the image.
Dear Author,
If your Ads fail, don't give up.
Advertising is about experimentation and testing.
Almost everything you test won't work.
The authors that win are those who possess one key skill...
Consistency.
Stay consistent, learn, and evolve. That's how you see success.
One of my biggest mistakes running Facebook Ads advertising books was trying to create the perfect Ad.
I spent way too long thinking when I should've been acting.
You don't create a scroll-stopping Ad until you've tested.
Don't build Ads on theory.
Build them on data.
Are you up for a writing challenge? Try writing a story using only 10 words, but you must include the words 'unicorn', 'spatula', and 'margarita'. Bonus points if you make it funny! ๐ฆ๐น๐ณ #writingchallenge#flashfiction
One of the biggest mistakes I made marketing my wife's books was trying to be everywhere:
- Facebook Ads
- Amazon Ads
- BookBub Ads
- Social Media
- YouTube
- Pinterest
- The list goes on...
Today, we use 2-3 traffic sources to drive quality, relevant traffic to our books.
Amazon Ads doesn't have to be complicated.
But it can be when your Account becomes 'bloated'.
Keep things SIMPLE.
Yesterday, I showed 2,500 self-published authors how to improve their Amazon Ads in 3 simple steps.
Did you miss this edition?
Grab it below โ
Always run Brand Defence Amazon Ads Campaigns that target:
- Your ASINs
- Your Brand Keywords (Your Pen Name, Book Titles, and Series Titles)
If you're not, you're leaving a LOT of money on the table.
What DOESN'T work with Amazon Ads:
- Low Bids
- 100's of Campaigns
- 100's of Keywords/ASINs
- Vague/Irrelevant Targeting
What DOES work with Amazon Ads:
- 6-20 Campaigns
- Competitive Bids
- Relevant Targeting
- 10-15 Targets per Campaign
Results will speak for themselves.
Unpopular opinion for self-published authors:
Don't advertise ALL your books.
Instead, spend 80% of your budget on 20% of your books.
That's how you win.
If you're a self-published author, remember:
- Marketing is simple, but not easy
- Execution, learning the ropes of marketing is hard
- Showing up each and every day, no matter your results, is hardest
Start today, even if you have 30 minutes and build it into your routine.
@BrynneahPiper @JWillows_Author As you can tell this is more of a long term strategy.
Sorry this reply can get really long so Iโll end it here, hope it help you generate some ideas. :)
@BrynneahPiper @JWillows_Author To talk as you would with friends without trying to sell. And when the time is right and with the right topic you can drop hints on the fact that youโre an author.
And make sure your profile has links to your books so if anyone got interested they can find you. ->
