Aliko Dangote: This project started like a joke, but after doing some research, we chose Lamu County. This oil refinery is one of the fastest projects we have launched since the fertilizer project in Ethiopia. I congratulate President Ruto; I don’t know what magic he used on me
But this is more than a refinery. It is an integrated industrial complex featuring a 1,000MW power plant, plastic factory and the manufacturing of fertilisers and chemicals.
Aliko Dangote: We’re not scared of people taking us to court. Anybody who wants to cause trouble, we’re ready for his trouble, and we’ll give him a headache.
I assure you we will come back here and commission this refinery in 40 months from today.
- Aliko Dangote said as he officially flagged off today the construction of the $16 billion Dangote East African oil refinery in Kenya.
About three months ago, I visited the Dangote refinery. Aliko got all his workers together and said, 'All of you working here, the man you have to thank is this man, that’s me,' he said. 'Without this man, I would not have been in cement production, and it’s cement production that provided the encouragement and the inspiration for the refinery.'
- Obasanjo shared the story on how Dangote started producing cement in Nigeria.
Aliko Dangote: We will come back to commission the Lamu Oil Refinery in 40 months. We will set up a training school for those with engineering degrees and diplomas
Together with my brother Aliko Dangote, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery, a KSh2.2 trillion ($16 billion) mega project set to transform the energy and industrial landscape of Kenya and the region.
