@DNicholsAuthor This one hit home. I’ve learned to sleep on feedback before deciding whether it’s changing my story or helping me find it. The edits that stung the most didn’t make my writing more clever. They made it more true.
Words got less clever & more real.
It happened in my morning pages.
Not because I became a better writer.
Because I stopped trying to be one.
I stopped acting, started being true.
That’s when real writing began.

@DNicholsAuthor My mom was my built-in editor until she passed in 2021… I always listened.
Just met my new editor and looking forward to it.
I’ll listen to my editor… even Grammarly.
Everything else? I fight with.
There’s something about human interaction.

@DNicholsAuthor I think there’s one other voice we need to hear… the quiet one underneath all the noise.
That’s usually the one telling the truth.
Otherwise, I agree. Keep showing up.
