@BenShields2 This is an amazing transdisciplinary unit for migration; we've had the most incredible adaptations from students as we levelled up the game. Let me know if you want to hear more.
@CoachGelardi@JoeyFeith I understand it’s a cultural nuance, for me a coach is someone who is responsible for coaching a specific team or individual. Even at home, we wouldn’t refer to our team coaches this way. I understand the cultural norms on this, but as an educator, I don’t accept it go myself.
@CoachGelardi@JoeyFeith I may be truly throwing a curveball here, but as an antipodean and not North American pspe teacher, the idea of being called coach is my worst nightmare, and I actually correct staff for referring to me as that. I will respectfully agree that we have different visions.
@CoachGelardi@JoeyFeith It may be that a kiddo lacks confidence to succeed or feel included in the lessons, given the type of consequences for not wearing the kit requested. Is this a one off or consistent avoidance behaviours? Relationships and trust build classrooms, not punitive measures.
@CoachGelardi @BigTennPhysEd @ElemPE1@BolgersPowerPE@JrV4Victory I respectfully disagree, and most activities can be modified to suit the footwear as we are not excluded those kids from running around at break times, and they make it work. We have essential agreements but this is an open offer for kids to choose to not participate with an out.
@DaleSidebottom Rewards and PBIS are effective, if used effectively and consistent across a school, RTI and MTSS are needed for the kiddos who are outside of the generalised 80% reach, but in every child environment, consistency is key.
@DaleSidebottom 2/2: ‘tidying up the spots, balls etc, showing that you are caring towards a friend etc. These qualities, highlighted are super meaningful to the kiddos who are consistently doing what is expected. They need to know why they are being praised/acknowledged to connect it to self.
@PhilMathe79_PE It’s all about relationships and creating a safe, fun and nurturing environment. I know as PS PE, I am a rockstar to those kiddos! Be the person that creates inclusive ops for growth and confidence. Visit hr classes and learn as much as you can about them to connect.
@teaching_health@HKIS Love this! During our growth and development lessons with our 4th and 5th graders, we provided a safe ‘go to’ for students to access products in a pack, complete with single use underwear and sanitary products. The autonomy to use this, if needed was well received and useful.
@CoachPat1984 If you’re pyp based there is so much more than gymnastics, we are currently underway in a movement comp unit which is focused on creating trick shots; it’s awesome!
I'll never forget my first Ofsted lesson observation, as an NQT, when they said I couldn't rely on this level of energy to engage and enthuse my class as it would diminish as I got older. I hope they get to watch this, 20 years later. 🤔
@The_EverLearner@LauraD_PE This is so true! We have at least 3 units across g1-5 focusing on lifestyle activities which are fun, easily replicated and create social wellbeing opps for all. My no. 1 ASA was a walk and talk in Seoul with g10-12 s and we would chat, walk and be socially active.
